Let’s talk PDF automation at INKISH FLOW

What’s still taking too much manual work in your PDF workflow? What would you like to automate next? The callas team is coming to INKISH FLOW to talk through those questions with you.

Ahead of the INKISH FLOW event in Bad Hersfeld on November 3-5, David van Driessche joined Pat McGrew to discuss what attendees can expect. His advice: come with something you’d like to solve. Perhaps you’re planning an integration, tackling a recurring production headache or wrestling with a PDF that refuses to behave. They’re all good starting points.

To get those conversations going, the team will bring examples from real production workflows. And while pdfToolbox started with preflight, it has evolved considerably since then. From preparing artwork and adding varnish to generating packing slips with previews and job information, there’s plenty to explore beyond checking a file.

Of course, incoming PDFs don’t always make automation easy.

“Problems with PDF have always existed since the very beginning. And they will probably always exist. So that’s not the real problem. You just need to know how to deal with them.”

In practice, that means correcting what needs attention and leaving what already works alone. It also means helping files move through production without stopping at someone’s desk unnecessarily.

Along the way, David hopes visitors discover a few things they didn’t know were possible. It happens regularly: someone describes a feature they’d love to have, and the team has to gently explain that it’s been there for years. A useful discovery, even if it arrives a little late!
